ABOUT US

We work to keep children safe and families together by:

  • Providing child protection services 24 hours a day, seven days a week
  • Engaging and supporting families at risk in problem solving
  • Linking families with essential community services to ensure the best possible outcomes for families
  • Providing prevention and awareness programs to keep children safe and families strong
  • It is our goal, whenever possible, to maintain a child in the home or with extended family, but if this is not viable, children are placed in safe, nurturing environments, including foster homes.

    The CAS Model
The York Region Children’s Aid Society is governed by a board of directors made up of people from the community who have diverse backgrounds and experience but who share a passion and vision for caring for children.

It is the role of the board to oversee the management of the Agency and ensure that services are delivered in accordance with The Child and Family Services Act and according to best practices.

The York Region Children's Aid Society has over 250 employees, 154 foster families, and over 200 volunteers who provide support and care to the families and children in our community and in substitute care.

    CAS Funding
The government of Ontario funds CAS’s to provide child protection services as required by the Child and Family Services Act. The York Region Children's Aid Foundation fundraises and welcomes donations for programs and services not funded by the Government.

Funds raised support children in the care of the York Region CAS to participate in childhood milestones such as grade eight graduation trips, summer camp, cultural experiences, music and art lessons, sports, and post-secondary education assistance.
