BACK-TO-SCHOOL

Most York Region families are already starting to prepare for the upcoming school year. For many of the children and youth we serve, a new backpack full of supplies to start the year or an extra-curricular program or activity are often not possible.

By supporting our 2014 Back-to-School Campaign, you provide the essentials to help vulnerable children and youth develop to their fullest potential.

Here are some ways you can help:

Sponsor a specific child. You will receive a brief bio on the child, including their first name, age, gender clothing and shoe size, and grade they will be entering, so that you can shop specifically for this child and fill their backpack. Please contact Leslie Humphy at 905-895-2318, ext. 6347 or leslie.humphrey@yorkcas.org, for more information.

Make a tax-receiptable donation and ensure we can help now with back-to-school as well as throughout the year with items that do not fit into a school bag, such as a class trip, a sports registration, or tutoring - so they do not get left behind.

Here are some examples of how your support can have a positive impact:

  • $25 helps provide a new pair of running shoes for gym class
  • $50 fills a school bag with supplies, so a child can start the year off right
  • $75 allows a child to participate in a school trip
  • $100 buys a child a school uniform or outfit for a special school function
  • $250 provides tutoring or help with post-secondary textbooks for a struggling student

Host a back-to-school drive to collect new school supplies, such as pencils, pens, paper, pencil crayons, binders, and essential toiletries. Please contact Leslie Humphy at 905-895-2318, ext. 6347 or leslie.humphrey@yorkcas.org, for more information.

However you choose to help, thank you.

You truly make a difference in the lives of the children that we serve.
