HOLIDAY HERO PROGRAM 2009

It's time again for the York Region Children's Aid Society's 2009 Holiday Hero Program!

We have experienced first hand the incredible impact your contributions have made over the past 32 years.By providing new toys, gifts of clothing and food to hundreds of children and families in care of the York Region Children's Aid Society, the community has demonstrated it's compassion and generosity year after year.Once again we are asking for your support.

Please note we have made some slight changes to the Holiday Heroes Program this year in order to better serve our families. Here are some of the ways you can help.

Sponsor a Family - (Clothing, Toys or Both)

Provide Clothing

  • The basics in clothing including socks & underwear, pajamas - for boys in men's sizes, we suggest boxer shorts and t-shirts, hats, scarves and mitts.
  • For infants and toddlers - diapers or pull-ups and appropriate undergarments.
  • Under 13 years old - 2 hats and 2 pair of mitts.
  • For children size 2 up to 6x - a 2 piece outfit.
  • For larger children a sweater or sweatshirt.

You will be provided with sizes, height and weight for each child. You can add to it as your budget dictates.

And/Or Provide New Toys/Gifts

The amount of gifts for each child is up to the donor, but we recommend no more than 4 gifts each. The amounts should be even between the children and age appropriate. Please don't forget batteries if a toy requires them. Gift certificates are acceptable to some of the region wide stores (i.e.Wal-Mart, Zellers, HMV, movies passes or passes to an activity). These can also include some toiletry items(i.e. shampoo, conditioner, shaving items, toothpaste, etc.).

We will provide a list of suggestions from the children, which you may want to consider. Some will have special requests i.e. snowsuits, boots, hockey sticks & pucks and other sports equipment. Of course these are only guidelines. Please don't be offended if some children ask for expensive items. They are just kids with big "dreams".

Monetary Gift Donations

The money is deposited towards the "Holiday Hero Program 2009" which helps to buy items such as food vouchers for the needy families and children. A tax receipt will be given at the end of the year.

If you are interested in participating or would like additional information, please do not hesitate to contact Leslie Humphrey at (905) 895 2318 Ext. 6347. Thank you for your generosity and support.
